Implants/Smoking

July 29th, 2012
Q.

Can I have dental implants if I smoke?

A.

Yes you can. Many smokers have had successful implant treatment. There is however an increased risk of complications with bone healing in active smokers and we would prefer you cut down as much as you can around the time of surgery. This will be discussed with you at the initial consultation when your overall oral health will also be assessed.
